Local Catholic educators reflect on pope's talk
KANSAS CITY - The world's television sets were tuned to Washington, D.C., as Pope Benedict XVI arrived to meet with lawmakers, religious leaders, private citizens and Catholic educators. Three Kansas City area educators, Sister of St. Joseph of Carondelet Patricia Clune, Salesian Father Thomas Curran, president of Rockhurst University and Dr. Ron Slepitza, president of Avila University, were among those present at the meeting hosted at Catholic University of America. Father Curran described it as a "setting that was relatively small, intimate and as welcoming as a seminar on Rockhurst or Avila University campuses."
